Small Groups or Sunday School classes are not just another organization of the church. They are the church organized for outreach and evangelism. Regardless of what you may call them, we believe having groups that meet on Sunday mornings are essential for the health and growth of the church. Your church could have a small group ministry that meets at other times during the week, and even outside the church, if so these groups should be in addition to the Sunday morning groups that meet at the church.

Why should we have a Small Group or Sunday School Ministry at our church?

It is because they provide additional opportunities in the fellowship for learning and discipleship. Visitors, new attendees and other church attendees including members can get to know one another better in this setting. People in the community are looking for a real church with real people who care about them. Sunday morning groups or classes provide a great opportunity of developing friendships and trust, which tends to make attendees more committed to the church and its vision.

A small group or Sunday School Ministry should always be organized to function as an evangelistic arm of a church.  It should exist with a purpose of changing lives for Jesus Christ, by evangelizing the lost and discipling those who attend which have by faith responded to the Gospel.  Being Great Commission focused should be the primary objective and main goal of the Ministry.

The Success of your Sunday School or Small Group Ministry, and the growth of your church, will be a reflection of the commitment and preparedness of your leadership.

A suggested ministry motto should be:   “REACH, TEACH, & MINISTER”

Acts 2:42-47 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
A Generous and Growing Church

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
